On Saturday June 09 we got up early to prepare for Vanda's wedding. Karel and I got haircuts and Liba pressed our suits. As usual, though, the best laid plans go all haywire. The plan was to take the train into Prague for the wedding, which was being performed at Prague Castle, and then join the other guests on a bus to the banquet, which was being held a fair way from the city centre. Of course it was the hottest day of the year and we were running late. From Adriana's house we made a mad dash to the train station on foot, with Karel running ahead to purchase the tickets and meet us on the train. Adriana was wearing high heels, but she still managed to fly like the wind. It was all I could do to keep up with her.....When we got to the station the train was already preparing to leave. We looked in every carriage but Karel was nowhere to be found. Very discouraged, Adriana wisely decided against getting on the train without first finding Karel, (especially since we didn't have any tickets). She left me in the station in a pool of sweat while she went to see if she could find him. Apparently he thought we were to meet at the gate, and when he saw the train pull out he went back to Liba's to wait to see if Adriana would phone. She found him at the house and made the decision to take the car so that at least we could pay our respects at the banquet, (and still get to enjoy the feast!). It was a shame we missed the ceremony, as everyone said it was spectacular, but at least we made it to the Hotel Certousy in time to see the Bride and Groom arrive.

After the dinner there was some time to kill while the DJ was setting up, so I took a walk around the village. It's a very pretty place and there are many interesting abondoned buildings.

For some reason the bus that had brought everyone from downtown Praha wouldn't be returning to take people back, so Adriana kindly offered to give Tom and Gabi a lift back to the nearest subway station. That meant we had to leave, as the time for the last train was fast approaching. It was a wonderful wedding, with amazing food and hosts! I was honoured to be a part of it.....
