Arriving at Podebrady, we were met by KK waving to us out the window on Palackeho Street. It was great to see him after all this time, and he was in fine form - entertaining us to the best of his formidible abilities. KK in the window, Karel, Deenie, and Liba
Before heading over to our hotel we took a quick walk around the town to see the sights.

Upon returning to Adriana's house we found that Liba and Vasek had prepared the first of many wonderful meals while we were checking into the hotel, and it really hit the spot. After dinner, the beer and sipowicz flowed freely, with Vasek topping up everyone's glass before they could finish it! Finally around, 10-11PM, Vasek had worn out, and he reminded everyone that there was a big re-enactment of a medieval battle in a park across the river Elbe. We were more than happy to oblige and visit the festivities, (it didn't hurt that there would be a beer tent). Heading out on foot and taking Liba with us, we had to cross the water on one of the coolest hydro-electric dams I've ever seen. Unfortunately we got to the park just as the last battle finished, but we were still in luck as it was followed by a spectacular fireworks display. Karel made a beeline for the beer, and also snagged several shots of sipowicz. We found an empty picnic table and settled in for the show.
